Dr. Allen Bottorff is accomplished in the field of higher education and has been in the engineering, business & finance, real estate, and construction fields for more than twenty years. He proudly serves at the University of Central Florida as the inaugural Director of Downtown Campus Facilities. There, he is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, oversight, and management of facilities planning and construction, operations and maintenance, landscape and resources, as well as utilities and energy services across the downtown campus – shared by both the University of Central Florida and Valencia College.
In addition to his current position, Dr. Bottorff is also an editorial review board member for The Community College Journal of Research and Practice, an international journal in the field of higher education. He is Associate Graduate Faculty at Florida Atlantic University where he teaches graduate courses in Community College Curriculum, the History and Philosophy of Higher Education, and the Organization and Administration of Higher Education – and is also a frequent guest lecturer for graduate courses in Higher Education Business and Finance.
Prior to coming to UCF, Dr. Bottorff served as the Assistant Vice President, Facilities Planning and Real Estate Development at Valencia College; as the Dean of Auxiliary Services, Facilities Planning, Risk Management, and Sustainability at Indian River State College; and has held a wide range of responsibilities including over twenty auxiliary business units, facilities and capital planning, risk management, mail and courier services, machine repair, energy efficiency and sustainability.
Dr. Bottorff began his professional career and spent over a decade as a professional engineer and client service manager for a mid-sized, private engineering firm on the Treasure Coast of Florida.
