After a four-year procurement, LCOR was selected in June 2000 by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to construct a new headquarters for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The 15-acre, 2.5 million square foot, state-of-the-art campus located in Alexandria, Virginia represents the largest lease ever signed by the GSA.
“During GSA’s evaluation process, the LCOR proposal was rated as the highest technically…providing the best overall value to the government,” said the GSA in selecting LCOR.
The $885-million facility initially consolidated in five linked buildings approximately 7,100 USPTO employees; currently approximately 9,000 employees are at the campus. The campus provides parking for 3,525 cars and convenient access to the King Street and Eisenhower Avenue Metrorail stations. Initial occupancy occurred in December 2003; final occupancy in April 2005.
